Points, Treasure Chests and Daily Spins: The Viewer Rewards System Explained
Why Viewer Rewards Matter
Live streaming on eBay is not just about selling. It is about building a community. The most successful streamers keep viewers coming back by making them feel valued and engaged. That is exactly what the Seller Widgets rewards system does.
Viewers earn points by chatting during live streams, spend those points on treasure chests to win collectible items and real prizes, and spin a free daily wheel for bonus rewards. It turns passive watching into an interactive experience that keeps your audience hooked.
How Points Work
Every viewer with a Seller Widgets account earns points automatically when they chat during a live stream. Here is the breakdown:
- First message — 5 points. A small incentive to break the ice and start chatting.
- Every message after that — 1 point each, up to a maximum of 100 points per stream.
Points are tracked per streamer, so if you watch three different sellers you will have three separate point balances. This means your engagement with each streamer is rewarded individually.
To earn points, viewers need to link their eBay username in their Seller Widgets settings. This is how we match chat messages during a live stream to your account.
Treasure Chests
Points are the currency. Treasure chests are where you spend them. There are five tiers of chest, each themed around a nautical adventure:
- Barnacle Chest — The most affordable option. Great for getting started with collecting.
- Sailor's Chest — Better odds of rare items.
- Captain's Chest — A solid mid-tier option with a chance at epic collectibles.
- Admiral's Chest — High-quality drops and improved prize odds.
- Kraken's Hoard — The ultimate chest. Best odds of legendary items and real prizes.
When you open a chest, you see a scroll roulette animation showing all the possible items before landing on your reward. It is designed to feel exciting every time, whether you get a common item or something rare.
Collectibles and Collections
Items from treasure chests are virtual collectibles that go into your inventory. There are 15 collections to complete, each with a set of themed items at different rarity levels. Rarities range from common all the way up to legendary.
Completing an entire collection earns you a bonus reward, usually a free chest voucher for a higher tier. This gives collectors a reason to keep opening chests and trading up.
Your inventory is visible on your dashboard, showing every item you own, how many duplicates you have and your progress toward each collection.
The Daily Spin
Every day, you get one free spin of the prize wheel per streamer you follow. The wheel includes several prize types:
- Points — Instant points added to your balance with that streamer.
- Chest vouchers — A free treasure chest of any tier, from Barnacle to Kraken's Hoard. These go straight to your inventory and can be opened on the Rewards page without spending any points.
- Shoutouts — Your name gets announced on the streamer's next live stream via an on-screen alert.
- Forfeits — You trigger the forfeit wheel on the streamer's next live stream. The streamer has to do whatever the wheel lands on!
The daily spin resets at midnight, so make sure you claim yours each day. If you forget, you will get an email reminder (which you can turn on or off in your settings).
Stream Alerts
When a viewer wins a shoutout or forfeit from the daily spin, it does not just sit in a database. It actually appears on the streamer's live broadcast as an animated alert overlay.
Streamers add the alert widget to their OBS setup as a browser source. When they go live, pending alerts play automatically, showing the viewer's name and the prize type. For forfeits, an interactive spinning wheel appears on screen for the audience to watch.
Streamers can upload custom sounds for shoutouts and forfeits, and configure their own forfeit wheel options. This makes every stream unique and gives viewers a reason to keep spinning.
Getting Started
If you are a viewer, create a free Seller Widgets account, link your eBay username in settings, and start chatting during live streams. Your points will start accumulating immediately. Head to the Rewards page to open your first chest or spin the daily wheel.
If you are a streamer, the rewards system works automatically for your viewers. Add the stream alerts widget to your OBS layout to show shoutouts and forfeits live on your broadcast. Configure your forfeit options and upload custom sounds from your Widgets page.
